Story: Sea Quest Kids was on a whirlwind tour starting at the Palm Beach Boat Show May 25 - 28 and ending at the New York Yacht Club April 3 for the 90th Anniversary Celebration of the United States Power Squadrons. New key relationships, expansion of old relationships, new corporate sponsors, and new venues requesting boat building were abundant indication that Sea Quest Kids is becoming a cornerstone of the marine industry. It was a demanding schedule of meeting corporate leaders in a series of stops that at times required Fearless Leader, Steve Gronka to go 72 straight without a break.

Starting at the great Palm Beach Boat Show produced by Show Management of Fort Lauderdale, Sea Quest Kids were asked to train leaders of the Boys & Girls Clubs and Special Olympics of Palm Beach County how to do Sea Quest Kids programs. Immediately after the Boat Show, Gronka met with Broward County Boys & Girls Club leader Di Maharaj. Maharaj is in charge of starting the first marine theme Boys & Girls Club ever established. Sea Quest Kids has a two year relationship with Maharaj and Broward County Boys and Girls Club, Executive Director, David Hughes. Sea Quest Kids will be active with the Admirals Club marine theme Boys & Girls Club and assist in numerous projects there. Gronka paved the way for the United States Power Squadrons to be a part of boating safety, navigation, and seamanship training at the Club.

Also in Fort Lauderdale, Gronka met with XO Communications area manager and former Green Bay Packer, Mike Cline, to discuss two Golf Tournament fund raisers which will have Sea Quest Kids as a charity beneficiary. One tournament will be the Deshatelet-Cline Tournament at the Atlantis Hotel Resort in the Bahamas and the other will be a Charity Tournament in Palm Beach.

Following the meetings in Fort Lauderdale Gronka cut across the state to Okeechobee and headed north to meet with Tim Kuck of the Kuck family who owns Regal Boats. Says Gronka, "Regal Boats is a premier boat manufacturer of sport boats and ski boats. They epitomize quality and integrity and we are glad that they have agreed to be a corporate sponsor of Sea Quest Kids." Kuck had specific projects to get started and no time is being wasted.

Sea Quest Kids will be interacting with Regal Boats on several different fronts, not the least of which will be Nathaniel's Hope. This is a charity started to help Parents of Special Needs Kids and Special Needs parents and their families. Nathaniel's Hope will provide them with help in the form of emotional and spiritual support, and resources to make life with their special needs children more rewarding and easier to handle. From Regal Boats the next stop was with Wanda Kenton-Smith to talk about greater involvement of the Sea Quest Kids in the Central Florida Boat Show. Kenton-Smith Advertising and Public Relations is in charge of promoting the Central Florida Boat Show. Sea Quest Kids has exhibited at the last two shows and the management of the show wants to increase the presence of the Sea Quest Kids by doing boat building during the show. Kenton-Smith Advertising is one of the leaders in promoting the Marine Industry.

Moving on in Florida a short way down I-4 toward Tampa, the next stop for Sea Quest Kids was the United States Water Ski Association and the Water Ski Hall Of Fame Museum. In a meeting with Marketing Director, Steve Upp, Gronka agreed to have Sea Quest Kids appear at US Water Ski Association events. Upp wants to have a standardized program which allows kids to experience all forms of boating and offers the ultimate in stability so that kids can get used to being on the water. This is exactly the thinking of Sea Quest Kids, making it the premier leading edge program in boating for children. Gronka says, "The Water Ski Museum is a fabulous place and well worth the stop. It is a fascinating must see destination in Florida."

On the recommendation of Upp, Gronka contacted future hall of famer and most decorated woman water skier ever, Kristi Overton Johnson. Overton-Johnson now has a ministry called In His Wake and she produces an Exhibition Tour of Christian Skiers and Wake Boarders. These are world class champion and world record holder skiers and wake boarders and Cypress Gardens performers who dazzle crowds with their abilities on the water and their testimonies of belief in Jesus the Christ as Lord and Savior. Gronka agreed to train Kristi's husband, Tim Johnson, and lead the Sea Quest Kids activities at the first event of the season. After their meeting and church on Wednesday night, it was on to Atlanta straight through the night for a meeting the next day at The Home Depot.

At the Home Depot Eastern Region Office the increase in the schedule of events was reviewed and with Eastern Region Director, Ron DeFeo. The scale of Sea Quest Kids has expanded rapidly since The Home Depot made its sponsorship commitment just a few short months ago. A presentation for the highest level of sponsorship will be made during the next few weeks.

From The Home Depot it was on to Richmond and then New York for the 90th Anniversary Celebration of the US Power Squadrons. Gronka received a plaque in recognition of the ground breaking work at the Children's Hospital at Montefiore. Medical and Marine Industry history were made when for the first time ever one of the finest children's hospitals in the world used boat building as therapy for kids in treatment.
